The Third Ear Music | vol. 7 | 8-10.06.2022

The Third Ear Music is a DIY project that aims at strengthening and widening the creativity of the musicians of Lublin while creating a society around this idea. It is a series of improvised concerts started by Grzegorz Lesiak and other members of Tatvamasi band. The musicians have been inviting guests to play with the band since 2014. They play the music that has no name, no limits and no classifications. So far, the project featured leading artists of the contemporary music and free improvisation scene, among those: Marta Grzywacz, Martin Küchen, Piotr Damasiewicz, Mikołaj Trzaska, Vasco Trilla, Yedo Gibson, Luis Vicente, Peter Orins, Jeremy Ternoy, Ivann Cruz, Ken Vandermark.

The seventh edition of the project will take place on 8-10 of June in the Black Room of Galeria Labirynt in Lublin. During the three evenings, 12 concerts are planned. Lublin musicians will create new art with excellent artists of the European free improvisation scene. What might be expected? Some wider sounds leading to minimalism, duets, acoustic tones, guitar sounds, ethno, electric quartets, acoustic-electronic experiments up to heavy techno jazz grooves.

Vasco Trilla

Vasco Trilla is an undeniable genius and drumming alchemist. The best quotes to describe his person are:

“Vasco is really one of the modern masters of a new ‘free sound approach’ to drum set and percussion. Defying the accepted conventions of speed, and ‘flashy’ drum set playing, he makes an incredible musical statement , taking us through a myriad of tones and emotions along a varied and tonally hybrid journey.” Pete Lockett.

“Trilla’s breadth of experience makes him a particularly protean drummer—he slides easily from playing precise time and complex changes to driving, pulse-based free drumming to almost indeterminate experiments in noise, using bells, bows, and other objects to create shimmering—and sometimes menacing—fields of sound ”
Dan Sorrells, The Free Jazz Collective
